Beauty 360 Gifting Suite for the Golden Globes

CVS Presents Beauty 360
Golden Globes Gifting Suite

This past weekend we designed and built the set for Beauty 360 as a part of the On3/Access Hollywood Golden Globes Gifting Suite! The suite was a great success and was attended by stars and nominees like Neil Patrick Harris, Jennie Garth, Anna Lynn McCord, Busy Phillips, Shenea Grimes, and many others!

Beauty 360 had a suite with hair by Ric Pipino, make-up by Vincent Longo, facials and skincare by Borba, lashed by Pop Beauty, and nails by Nailtini. Below are some photos from the set, let us know what you guys think!

The set was designed to reflect the clean contemporary look of the Beauty 360s stores.

We had a custom sign made from Lucite for the Beauty 360 logo. The wall glowed blue from behind so the sign was able to glow also.

Ric Pipino provided the hair styling at the event, he was great!

There was a fragrance bar in the center of the set with some of Beauty 360's fragrance offerings.
Borba took care of the skincare at the event and even gave mini-facials to the guests.

Vincent Longo provided the make-up, his products are beautiful!

After about 20 hours straight of building the set Jes was exhausted! We covered her up for a cat-nap with a furniture blanket (she only got 5 mins before we were busy again!)

Today Show Bling!

Jes appeared as a guest on the Today Show Sunday to talk about how to create a fun and fabulous table for entertaining. She shared her ideas with the viewers on creating a table with bling, that is also meaningful and memorable to your guests! Jes covered her table with a beautiful copper (the HOTTEST color in 2010!) tone cloth then added round mirror place-mats with amber plates, silverware, and glassware. She chose stem-less glassware for water and wine the keep the possibility of spillage down! Centerpieces were arranged with bold festive flowers: Gloriosa Lily and Golden Treasure Orchids. The flowers definitely brought the WOW factor and a pop of color to the table. The table was garnished by napkins tied with peacock ribbons, mirrored place cards, amber and gold candle votives, moss balls, glass balls, and amber diamond sea glass.

Behind the Scenes!
Jes and the jesGORDON/properFUN team were invited to NBC Studios to prep the set for Jes' segment on Saturday. It was an exciting yet a very different experience. Jes wasn't allowed to carry or touch any of her props herself. She had to let the Today Show staff unwrap EVERYTHING (even her clippers) and place EVERYTHING on the table. She had to verbally show the guys where and how the flower centerpieces and other decorations were to be placed. HA! Check out some photos from Saturday!

Visitors got to meet Jes!

This is surreal! They are doing everything for US, we are used to setting everything up ourselves!

Home for The Holidays

One of the best things about the holidays is entertaining friends and family in your home. However, people often underestimate the amount of pre and post work that this requires. One area of prep-work Jes is often asked about is how to set-up your own home bar correctly for a party. How do you ensure you will have the correct amounts and varieties? What are some of the essential tools you should have on hand? These are all questions Jes answers in her book Party Like a Rock Star but, below are a few of the most key tips for you. These will take the headache out of the set-up but we can't promise to cure a hangover!

1. As a host you should be comfortable not offering the world of alcohols and confident in your edited selections. For a cocktail party, it makes sense to offer one signature cocktail, a few mixers like vodka and gin with juice or tonic, a couple of wine selections, a couple of beer choices, and a scotch or whiskey - that will definitely cover your bases. Be sure to display the selections for guests.

2. Essential Bar Tools:
- Corkscrew
- Ice Bucket
- Ice Scoop
- Cocktail Shaker/Strainer
- Colander
- Wine Bucket
- Wine Stoppers
- Decanters
- Garnishes

3. The most difficult question is often: how much do I buy? Basically, one bottle of wine should provide four to six glasses; for hard alcohol, you should have about twenty-two to twenty-five servings per liter. You usually multiply your guests by four - meaning if you have ten guests, you would have forty bottles of beer.

4. Where should you get the drinks for the party? One of Jes' favorite stores is Astor Wines in New York, they also have a website (www.astorwines.com). If you are buying in bulk, wine.com is a great resource or even your neighborhood Trader Joe's. Often, if you go to your local wine store or liquor retailer most will offer discounts on cases - even mixed cases. Also, if you go to a smaller store, you may have the opportunity to sample your selections first!

5. To add a fall/winter touch look into the seasonal beers that many brands offer. Blue Moon offers Harvest Moon, Buffalo Bills does Pumpkin Ale, and Sam Adams has Holiday Porter among others. These along with your regular selections will give your guests something to feel festive about.

Check out these and many more tips when Jes' home bar segment airs on BetterTV.

Jes' Picks

Tonight's installment of the E! news segment "Countdown to the Alter" focuses on Melissa picking a dress and me taking a look at some affordable accessory options for the bride and wedding party.
We shot on location in the J. Crew store at The Grove. We looked at items that can be used for the wedding day, but also everyday so you get the most bang for your buck! Below are some of my favorite pieces from the shoot:

This bracelet is affordable at $78.00 and makes a great accessory for the bride or gift for any of the bridal party.
This ring makes a big statement at only $65.00

These flip-flops are great as a gift for bridesmaids (at a very affordable $24.50) to change into while dancing the night away!

In a variety of fun and practical colors this clutch is a perfect size for storing lipgloss, credit cards and of course a cell phone for the big day or any night out! ($98.00)

I discuss these items and many more great finds on Tuesday's E! News at 7pm.

REALITY TELEVISION

So while filming for the E! NEWS segment Countdown To The Altar I have come t0 realize the power Reality Television really holds over its viewers. I can only hope that folks watching this spot or any spot for that matter, will walk away with a ton of take away knowledge and not the just the usual drama fluff that some reality television seems to breed. It is fascinating to see how the general public can earn an education in areas such as my event planning and production world simply from acting like the ever desired "couch potato" and sitting upon the couch and turning up the volume.
Selfishly speaking, its kind of nice to finally be hailed as an "expert" in front of the world after slinging parties for the past twenty years. One can only hope that young folks watching these types of segments can gain some sort of inspiration to follow their inner creative and to turn that creativity into a profession; like I have done. Tune into E! News every Tuesday night from 7-7:30pm to catch this info-packed small segment that falls within the half hour.
